Parent Information Session (1 hour)
Have a burning question about SIM IA? During this session, you will learn more about the many facets of SIM IA from our principal, teachers and students. At the end of the session, we welcome you both to ask questions and also to speak to us one-on-one.
STEM Workshop (1 hour)
Suitable for students between 10 to 16 years old
In this interactive STEM workshop, students aged 10 to 16 and their parents will be invited to participate in an updated “black box” science activity. In a “black box” activity, participants are given a black box and either have to guess its unseen contents based on observable behavior and phenomena (or deducing principles); or, without knowing the contents, work out how they can use it based on observable phenomena (the engineering process).
In our updated “black box” activity, experienced facilitators will introduce students to the micro:bit, a small programmable card, and invite them to either work out its underlying principles or its engineering uses. Through this, the workshop will demonstrate the importance of guesswork and mistakes to real-world learning. Embrace this mindset, and you are on your way to becoming scientists and engineers of the future!
