Parent Information Session (1 hour)
Have a burning question about SIM IA? During this session, you will learn more about the many facets of SIM IA from our principal, teachers and students. At the end of the session, we welcome you both to ask questions and also to speak to us one-on-one.
STEM Workshop (1.5 hours)
Suitable for students between 10 to 15 years old
In considering how best to educate the STEM leaders of tomorrow, a vital component of this learning needs to reside in the context of the real world. At SIM IA, we understand there are many similarities between scientific discoveries and inquiry. Both involve a strong degree of abductive reasoning, a process that where likeliest possible conclusions are drawn from an incomplete set of observations. It requires practice to develop, and a tacit understanding of the world around us.
The STEM workshop, therefore, focuses on this aspect of Problem Finding. Designed to be experiential and highly interactive, participants will be first led through a simple and fun game of ‘The Marshmallow Challenge’ to dig deeper and go beyond the obvious in order to identify or develop new insights. Designed for collaborative learning for students between 10 to 15 years old (parents are welcome to play too!), we will reveal what it takes to think and plan like an engineer or architect by getting students to explore various design features and eventually to showcase their masterpieces at the end of the workshop.
Campus and Boarding Tours (30 minutes to 1 hour)
